A short report on WASH FIT training in Sierra Leone, conducted in 2017.

This report presents the results of a comprehensive national assessment in Serbia – one of the first countries in  he Region to take concrete action to respond to the World Health Assembly resolution. The assessment collected evidence on the WASH conditions in health care facilities to identify gaps in implementation of the national requirements, to evaluate the routine monitoring system and financing, and to inform the development of advanced indicators.

This fact sheet provides an overview of water, sanitation and hygiene services in health care facilities in Zimbabwe based on data from the Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene, the Vital Medicines Availability and Health Services Survey, and a regional scoping study on WASH in Health Care Facilities. Key Findings Include: • 1 in 5 HCFs in Zimbabwe does not have access to basic water services. • 1 in 10 HCFs in Zimbabwe does not have access to any water service. • 1 in 25 HCFs in Zimbabwe has access to basic sanitation services. • 4 in 10 HCFs in Zimbabwe do not have access to basic hygiene services. • 1 in 10 HCFs in Zimbabwe does not have access to any hygiene service. • 98.4% of HCFs in Zimbabwe have access to basic waste management services. • 3.2% of HCFs in Zimbabwe have access to basic WASH services.

This interim guidance supplements the infection prevention and control (IPC) documents by summarizing WHO guidance on water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and waste management relevant to viruses, including coronaviruses. This document is an update to the interim guidance document entitled ‘Water, sanitation, hygiene, and waste management for the COVID-19 virus’, published on 23 March 2020. It is intended for water and sanitation practitioners and providers, and health-care providers who want to know more about WASH and waste risks and practices in relation to COVID-19.

The policy brief is intended as a tool to guide establishing regulatory frameworks to ensure the sound management of pharmaceutical solid and liquid waste. The guidance document is for use by WHO staff, policy makers and inspectors in Ministry of Health (MoH) and Ministry of Environment, pharmaceutical manufacturers and their associations, local municipalities and consumer organizations.
