Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in HealthCare Facilities in Zimbabwe: An Overview

This fact sheet provides an overview of water, sanitation, and hygiene services in health care facilities in Zimbabwe based on data from the Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene, the Vital Medicines Availability and Health Services Survey, and a regional scoping study on WASH in Health Care Facilities.

The Philippine Health Facility Development Plan (PHFDP) 2020-2040

This document is the Philippine Health Facility Development Plan (2020-2040) published in 2020. It uses a needs-based approach, accounting for the future burden of disease in estimating the needed health facilities in the medium to long-term. The Plan follows the service delivery model envisioned in the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act of 2019: a primary care-oriented and integrated health system. Also, it outlines approaches for health facilities to be climate resilient and environmentally sustainable.

Élaboré par le Ministère de la Santé et des Affaires Sociales, avec le soutien de USAID/MTaPS, le document couvre les principes fondamentaux de la PCI, les facteurs de risque, les voies de transmission, les protocoles d’isolement, les normes EHA dans les établissements de santé, la biosécurité, la stérilisation, les équipements de protection individuelle (EPI), les infections associées aux soins (IAS) et la résistance aux antimicrobiens. Il vise à réduire les IAS, améliorer la qualité des soins et protéger les patients, les agents de santé et les communautés. Les directives servent à la fois d’outil réglementaire et de formation.

These national guidelines from Mali establish standardized practices for infection prevention and control (IPC) across the human health sector. Developed by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, with support from USAID/MTaPS, the document covers core IPC principles, risk factors, transmission pathways, isolation protocols, WASH standards in health care facilities, biosafety, sterilization, personal protective equipment (PPE), healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and antimicrobial resistance. This comprehensive guideline integrates IPC, WASH, and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) practices across Malawi’s healthcare system. It includes detailed SOPs, standard precautions, cleaning and disinfection protocols, lab biosafety, outbreak management, and AMR mitigation. The document serves as a national reference for all facility levels and health worker cadres.

Guidelines for the Safe Management of Healthcare Waste in Liberia (2020) (English)

These national guidelines provide a comprehensive framework for the safe management of healthcare waste (HCWM) in Liberia. Developed by the National Public Health Institute of Liberia and the Ministry of Health, with support from partners such as WHO and CDC, the guidelines cover classification, segregation, collection, transportation, treatment, and disposal of healthcare waste. It includes protocols for occupational safety, training, planning, infrastructure, and specific procedures during public health emergencies like COVID-19.
